Electronics engineer
Embedded systems, robotics and computer vision. My final year robot finds and sorts e-waste with deep learning on a Raspberry Pi, and the work is published at IEEE.
- BTech, First Division, DTU
- IEEE ICCCNT 2023
- Now: EIRT v2 on ROS
- Raspberry Pi · Arduino · Cadence Virtuoso
EIRT: a robot that hunts e-waste
It finds electronic waste, picks it up, classifies it with an EfficientNet model at 82.3% accuracy and drops it in the right bin. Everything runs on one Raspberry Pi on board.

Embedded, robotics or vision role?

4 bit barrel shifter
A full custom 4 bit barrel shifter that rotates a word by zero to three places in one step, built from transmission gate multiplexers.
- Team
- Tursélio Mahoque
- Supervisor
- Prof. Neeta Pandey
- Built with
- Transmission gates, 4x1 multiplexers, 180 nm BSIM3 models
- Designed a 2x1 multiplexer from transmission gates, then a 4x1 multiplexer from three of them
- Built the shifter from four 4x1 multiplexers, with S1 and S0 setting how far the word rotates
- Compared the design against the same circuit built from universal gates
Automatic door
A door that opens by itself when someone walks up to it, driven by an Arduino.
- Team
- Loice Njuguna
- Supervisor
- Mr. Ajai Kumar Gautam
- Built with
- Arduino Uno, PIR sensor, Motor driver module
- A PIR sensor detects movement in front of the door
- The Arduino reads the sensor and drives a motor driver module
- The motor driver turns the DC motor to open the door, then closes it again

Automatic street light
Street lights that switch on at dusk, dim when they can, and switch off at dawn, with no one touching a switch.
- Team
- Tursélio Mahoque and Loice Njuguna
- Supervisor
- Mr. Ajai Kumar Gautam
- Built with
- Arduino Uno (ATmega328P), LDR, 10 LEDs
- An LDR measures the light level and the Arduino reads it as a value from 0 to 1023
- The value is compared against a threshold to decide between off, dim and full brightness
- The ATmega328P on the Arduino drives ten LEDs along a model street
Four way traffic light
A model highway with four junctions, with every light timed by an Arduino.
- Team
- Solo build
- Supervisor
- Mr. Akshay Mann
- Built with
- Arduino Uno R3, LEDs, Resistors
- Built a model highway with a T junction and a roundabout for traffic in four directions
- Grouped the four lights into two pairs that always change together
- Coded a six step cycle on the Arduino that repeats in a loop
Touch door
A door that opens and closes on a touch, using MOSFETs as switches and no microcontroller at all.
- Team
- Wail Abdalla
- Supervisor
- Prof. Neeta Pandey
- Built with
- MOSFETs, DC motor, Plywood door model
- Two MOSFETs are wired as touch switches, so a light contact is enough, with no button
- Touching a switch starts the motor in one direction
- When the door reaches its end, the other switch stops it, ready to move back the other way

Memristor synapse
Emulating how the brain remembers, using a memristor as an artificial synapse.
- Team
- Loice Njuguna
- Supervisor
- Dr. Pankaj Dahiya
- Built with
- Threshold type memristor SPICE model, PSpice
- Studied how memristors map onto spiking, multilayer, convolutional and recurrent neural networks
- Built a threshold type memristor emulator circuit
- Simulated it in PSpice with a 2.5 V, 5 Hz sine input
Automatic fire exit system
A low cost automatic fire exit system built around an ATmega328P microcontroller.
- Team
- Loice Njuguna
- Supervisor
- Mr. Akshay Mann
- Built with
- ATmega328P, IR sensor, LEDs
- An IR sensor feeds an ATmega328P microcontroller
- LEDs show the state of the system
- Prototyped on a breadboard

Digital clock
A 24 hour digital clock built from counter ICs and logic gates, simulated in Proteus.
- Team
- Tursélio Mahoque
- Supervisor
- Prof. Rajesh Rohilla
- Built with
- 74HC192 counters, AND gates, Seven segment displays
- Split the circuit into seconds, minutes and hours blocks, each built on 74HC192 counters
- Each block carries over into the next when it rolls over
- AND gates reset the hours block when it reaches 24

Internet radio
A live internet radio station set up from scratch, to show how a voice signal travels from source to listener.
- Team
- Wail Abdalla
- Supervisor
- Prof. Rajesh Birok
- Built with
- Icecast, Mixxx encoder, PHP and HTML5 player site
- Set up an Icecast server as the transmission channel
- A microphone feeds the Mixxx encoder on the broadcaster's PC
- Listeners tune in through an HTML5 player website, in simplex mode
3D car park
A virtual car park in OpenGL that you can walk around, with 36 cars and the houses around it.
- Team
- Gurazeez Singh Battu
- Built with
- C++, OpenGL, GLUT
- Cars and houses are built from OpenGL primitives and stored as display lists
- The car list is drawn 36 times, translated into place, to fill the car park
- The camera moves with the keyboard, including a top view
